The purpose of this research is to analyze young peoples' consciousness and actual conditions of care from a sociological/gender perspective, based on empirical research.Firstly, we studied and discussed the framework of care studies from the feminist perspective, and we conducted interview research focusing on gender issues in care work, and gathered 16 interview cases ; such as male and female care workers, care workers for the elderly, child nursery workers, and some students on a nursing course.Based on these interviews, we made a questionnaire and conducted research on the actual conditions and formation of care consciousness of young generations. We gathered more than 1100 answers in two categories, one was the students who belong to the care related departments (welfare, nursing and care of the elderly), the other was ordinary departments (non-care fields) of four universities. Based on the research findings, we analyzed young people's care experience, care consciousness, the relationship between career consciousness and their family backgrounds, male/female care workers conditions, and new issues in care work.
