本年度は、昨年度に引き続き、産業の事業所立地データを用い、個々の事業所集積の空間範囲、および・集積の数・位置、つまり事業所集積の空間パターンを検出するための情報量基準に基づく方法の開発を進めた。本プロジェクト期間内にこの集積検出手法の完成をみることはできなかったが、その基本的な分析枠組および暫定的結果については、私とトロント大学のGilles Duranton教授により京都大学にて開催した、集積の空間パターンの実証分析に特化した国際学会「International Conference on the Empirical Methods for the Study of Economic Agglomerations」において成果を報告した。暫定手法ではあるが、集積の空間パターン/分布を統計的に特定する体系的手法は、今のところ存在しておらず、本手法の完成は、「新しい空間経済学」など産業集積の集積規模・間隔および産業間での空間的同期や、都市の規模・位置・産業構造など、経済集積の空間パターンを主要な研究対象とする、集積の経済学の理論での研究フロンティアに対して直接的な実証分析を可能とする初めての試みであるとして高く評価された。報告された成果の一部は論文として、私とDurantonがゲスト編集者として編集するJournal of Regional Scienceの経済集積の実証分析に関する特集号に出版される予定である。また、理論面では、上記の実証分析を含む本プロジェクトの理論的背景を踏まえて、集積の空間パターンに関する理論的発展経緯に関する総評としてThe New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics(第二版)に執筆した。

This year, compared with the previous year, the development of the basic information base method for the detection of the spatial range, the number and position of the spatial range of the business accumulation, the location of the business accumulation, and the location of the business accumulation was improved.
