项目摘要

今年度は(1)昨年度収集した白衣派ジャイナ教聖典注釈類の電子テキスト化,(2)名古屋大学所蔵の故北川秀則博士蔵書からの聖典注釈類および独立論書テキストの収集,(3)『ダシャヴァイカーリカニルユクティ』に対するハリバドラ注,『ヴィシェーシャーヴァシュヤカバーシャ』に対する自注およびヘーマチャンドラ注に見られる推理についての記述の読解,を中心に作業を行った.以上の作業により,次のような知見が得られた.1.バドラバーフ(『ニルユクティ』作者)にとって,ジナの言葉は「おのずと正しい」(svasiddha)ものであり,その真偽は検証される必要もないものである.ジナの言葉の内容は,いわば教義的な必然であり,論理によって裏づけられるべきものではない.2.しかしながら,このようなジナの言葉の内容は,それを聞く人間の理解能力に応じて,論理的にその整合性を確かめる必要があった.ゆえに,ジャイナ教において論理(yukti)が考察されるようになったと考えられる.3.喩例の必要性はジナの言葉を聞く者の能力が劣っている場合に限られており,ジャイナ教論理学が本来的に帰納的性格を持っていたとは言い切れない.バドラバーフの時代からジャイナ教の論理学は,演繹的要素を包含していたと考えてよい.4.ジナバドラには,ディグナーガの帰納的推理の影響が色濃く見られるが,ジナの言葉に関わる一切知者論証に関しては,バドラバーフの演繹的推理の痕跡が残されている.5.後代ジャイナ教が提唱する内遍充論は,仏教徒ダルマキールティの模倣とは言えない.ジャイナ教内部のドグマによる要請から,内遍充論が形成された可能性が高い.上記の知見については,2005年8月に開催された第4回国際ダルマキールティ学会(於ウィーン)において「On the theory of inference in Jaina exegetical literature」と題して口頭発表した.現在,同題目の論文を上記学会報告誌に投稿中である.
