異なる整列パターンを持つ電荷秩序(伝導電子がクーロン相互作用のために一分子おきに整列する現象)相が競合するθ型BEDT-TTF塩において, 巨大な非線形伝導を発見した。この現象は電流によって電荷秩序が抑制されるためであることが, 電流通電下でのX線回折で明らかになった。この現象は本質的な非平衡現象であり, 本研究で見出した非平衡電荷密度波転移の理論で半定量的に理解できることがわかった。
