The purpose of this research is to clarify what "Supreme Being" (Etre supreme) meant in the 18th century France and to investigate how the people received the festival of the Supreme Being that was held on June 8, 1794. To collect research materials I visited France several times and examined original materials owned by Archives nationales, Bibliotheque nationale, and other institutions. The following four papers are based on this research.1. "What is the Meaning of the Local History ? : Some Considerations on The French Revolution and political clubs by Takenaka Koji"2. "The people of Paris in the French Revolution : Some Considerations about Food Disturbances."3. "Some Remarkable Changes in the Historiography of the French Revolution."4. "The revolution in Lyon and the <Sans-culottes> : Some Considerations on The French Revolution in Lyon by Koi Takashi."Moreover, I have a paper just waiting for publication.1. "Possible Future of the intellectual history after Roger Chartier ?" In addition, I will publish a provisional paper titled "On the Festival of Supreme Being : Theoretical examinations about <Etre supreme>" in the Report of 2008. However, more research is necessary to fully investigate how the festival was received by the people who participated in it. I would like to publish the result as early as possible in the near future.
