Comparative Study of Multicultural Education in Australia and Japan

本研究的目的是通过对澳大利亚和日本的政策和实践的分析，来明确多元文化社会的教育进程。研究结果如下：在澳大利亚，多元文化教育是他们的学校对他们多元文化社会的教育需求做出反应的手段，它已经成为正式主流教育体系的一个组成部分。而近年来，公民和公民教育也正在成为澳大利亚学校教育的重要组成部分。新公民学和公民教育包括一套与公民的权利和责任、政府、历史、国家认同、法律制度、公民积极参与、价值观等相关的知识和技能。在日本，国际理解学习（KOKUSAI RIKAI KYOUIKU）主要针对大多数日本儿童。对外国孩子的教育几乎就是教日语。我们需要构建新的学校教育政策和实践，使学生为文化多元化的公民社会做好准备。

The purpose of this research is to make clear the process of education for multicultural society in Australia and Japan, by analyzing the policies and practices.The results of the research are as follows : In Australia multicultural education is the means by which their schools respond to the educational needs of their culturally diverse society, and it has become an integral part of the formal mainstream education system. And in recent years, civics and citizenship education is also becoming an important part of Australian school education. New civics and citizenship education include a set of knowledge and skills related to things such as rights and responsibilities of citizens, government, history, national identity, legal system, active citizen participation, values and so on.In Japan, international understanding study (KOKUSAI RIKAI KYOUIKU) is mainly for majority Japanese children. Education for foreign children is almost teaching Japanese. We need to construct new school education policy and practices to prepare students for culturally diverse civil society.
