今年度は、『百科全書』の記述を特徴付ける「合理的歴史」(histoireraisonnee 仏」ないし「哲学的歴史」、中でも、『百科全書』の四大記述対象のひとっをなす「誤謬の歴史」の概念に注目し、既成の権威に対する批判としてのその哲学的射程の解明を試みた。 2007年7月にフランス・モンペリエで開催された国際十八世紀学会では、『百科全書』の哲学史項目(ディドロによる執筆)の迷信批判を合理的な推論に基づいた哲学的な「誤謬の歴史」として解釈する発表を行い、その問題提起に対し海外の複数の専門家から好評が得られた。 2007年12月には、フランス啓蒙研究の泰斗ベアトリス・ディディエ教授を招聘して『百科全書』の技術項目に関する講演会を開催するとともに、同教授と今年度の研究課題に関する専門知識の交換を行った。さらに、2007年度夏期の海外資料調査を基に執筆した2008年1月刊行の紀要では、コンディヤックの『体系論』を紹介した『百科全書』の項目「占術」(ディドロによる執筆)を具体例に、啓蒙期の百科全書派のフィロゾフによる著作の内容が『百科全書』に取り込まれる際に、いかに戦略的・意図的な変形が加えられたかという問題を「誤謬の歴史」の観点から検討した。その結果、哲学や迷信などの「体系」一般の批判としてコンディヤックが記した『体系論』の論理を、ディドロが他のあらゆる誤謬に適用可能な哲学的批判のプロトタイプとして紹介し、コンディヤックの著作を略述しながら諸処に誤謬の最たるものとしてのカトリック・キリスト教に対する自らの哲学的批判を巧妙に忍び込ませていることが明らかになった。他人の著作を的確に要約・紹介すると同時に、他人の見解を隠れ蓑に原本の内容を越え出る個人的な批判を行間に盛り込むディドロの記述法は、厳しい言論の検閲を意識した百科全書派の「合法的な」批判のレトリックのあり方を典型的に示している。
