製造業における中高齢者の活用を支援する手法の開発と実用化を行った。45歳から70歳の中高齢者を主たる対象とした。中高齢者が活用されるまでのプロセス全体を見渡し、手順を中高齢者の作業能力評価、作業域の設計および作業訓練区分して、それぞれの活動を支援する手法と装置を開発した。さらに、直接作業だけでなく、中高齢者の知識と経験を活用し、さらに若年者に伝承すること支援するための遠隔作業支援装置を開発した。
