我々は代表的な遺伝子導入ベクターを用いて、疾患の病態が及ぼす遺伝子導入効率への影響を検討した。その結果、数種の疾患モデルマウスにおける遺伝子発現形態は正常マウスとは大きく異なり、疾患の病態や病期が遺伝子発現量に大きく影響することを明らかにした。また、この遺伝子発現量の変化は、疾患の種類や遺伝子導入ベクターの構成成分によって大きく異なることを見いだし、疾患毎に最適な遺伝子導入ベクターの選択が必要であることを実証した。
