项目摘要

2007年度は現地での文書史料調査(2007年11月〜12月にかけてシリア及びヨルダンにて歴史文書館での文書史料調査)を実施し、結果を踏まえつつ前年度の検証をさらに発展させた。具体的には、(1)隣人共同体のイマーム(ここでのイマームは共同体の長を指しモスクのイマームとは異なる)(2)隣人ワクフ(3)隣人モスクの三つがタンジマート以前アレッポの行政において枢要をなしていたとの仮説のもとに、文書史料及び文書史料データベースを用いてこの精査を行い以下の通り成果を発表した。本成果はイスラーム世界の都市における自治制度の存在を実証しその具体的な構造を明らかにしたものであり、イスラーム都市及びその社会制度研究に新たな知見をもたらす重要なものと考える。研究分担者クノスト研究員は、これらの研究成果の一部として"The Impact of the 1822 Earthquake in Aleppo on Waqf Administration." in Sluglett, Peter, et. al.(ed.): Recent Research on Bilad al-Sham under Ottoman Rule(1517-1918). Amman(The University of Jordan),等論文9件を発表し、また海外の2国際会議にて成果報告を行った(詳細後述)。また、海外におけるこれらの報告及び研究交流の結果、オスマン朝社会史研究者アストリド・マイヤー氏の訪日及びワークショップ開催(イスラーム地域研究東洋文庫拠点主催)などオスマン朝社会史研究、文書研究の分野で海外研究者との研究交流の活性化が実現された。国内でもクノスト研究員は若手研究者との文書史料講読会を継続的に実施し、平成19年7月には東京大学にて大学院生等を対象としたオスマン朝アレッポのワクフ及びスーフィー教団に関する研究セミナー(アラビア語文書史料講読を含む)を実施するなど、研究交流及び若手研究者の育成においても成果を上げつつある。
