本プロジェクトは、日本語における「程度」という認知的範疇の意味論的、語用論的な側面を分析の対象としている。今年度において、以下の課題を取り扱った。(i)日本語の程度句は原級においても「マイナス」程度の形容詞由来名詞と共起が出来るという特殊な振舞いを示しているが、その現象の完全な説明は困難であった。こうした表現は日本語においてなぜ容認度が高いかという問題の解明を目指し、その統語的構造、特にコピュラ文、「ウナギ文」の分析に基づき研究を行った。(ii)概算の標識として用いられる「クライ」、「ホド」、「バカリ」等の程度副詞が持つ性質に着目し、「程度」と「数」との相互関係について検討を行った。分析の対象となった現象は、かなり大きい、もしくは予測困難な数量が日本語において程度として概念化されているというものなどであった。分析の中心となるのはおよその数を伴う疑問文と平叙文である。更に、日本語の談話において曖昧性がどのようにして用いられるかについて考察を行った。(iii)最後に、動詞のアスペクト・動作様態は根本的にスケール性を示していると考え、日本語とポーランド語の対照分析を行い、研究領域の拡大を試みた。「不完了体-完了体」の対立による動詞の形態変化と、接頭辞の多義性は共にスラヴ語の大きな特徴であるが、その両者が表す意味的境界線が曖昧であることから、スラヴ諸語における動詞のAktionsartの明確な分析は困難であると思われてきた。本研究ではポーランド語の動詞の時間的特徴に着目し、まず最初にポーランド語における動作様態の新たな分類方法を提示した。その際、Mlynarczyk(2004)による形態的基準に基づいた5つのクラスからなる分類を用い、その分類を更に派生させた15の動作様態を分析の枠組みとした。結論として、上記のクラスは概ねOgihara(1998)等の分析に対応するが、ポーランド語のunitisable processes(最小単位に分解可能な動作、一般的には「一回相」)だけが日本語の動詞形態には見られないものであると主張し、両言語におけるこのカテゴリーの相違について考察を行った。
