研究テーマに基づき、帰結主義と非帰結主義に関わる研究を行ってきた。主に3つのプロジェクトにわけ研究を行った。第1に、混合寡占の研究を行った。すなわち、不完全競争市場に、私企業だけでなく公営企業も存在するような状況を考え、どのような場合に民営化すべきかという問題について研究を行った。まず、公企業あるいは私企業が、研究開発投資を行っている状況について注目し研究を進めた。私企業の存在が公企業の効率性を下げることを一般的に示した。また、自由参入市場における競争政策と民営化の関連性についての研究も進めた。この問題は、帰結主義的評価方法の代表である厚生主義に基づいたうえで、いかに社会厚生を達成するのかというテーマと関わっている。第2に、社会的選択理論の決定構造に関する研究を行った。この研究は前年度に行った、非帰結主義としての常識的道徳に関する研究の背後にある論理構造の分析としての役割も持つ。特に、社会的選好が完備でない場合の社会的決定の背後にある決定構造の分析のための概念の提示を行った。また、匿名性と中立性を満たす社会的決定ルールの特徴づけに関する研究も行った。そこではさまざまな社会的合理性の条件の下で、可能な社会的決定ルールのクラスを特徴付けた。さらに、マスキン単調性と決定構造の関連についての研究を行った。第3に、帰結主義の立場をとりつつ、その代表格である厚生主義を避ける可能性について研究を行ってきた。非厚生主義的帰結主義は、衡平性の問題と関わっている。まず、無羨望条件と平等性等価という2つの衡平性概念の両立可能性についての研究を行った。さらに、世代間衡平性の概念として無羨望条件と平等性等価がどのような役割を持つのかについて研究を行った。
