本年度は、以下のとおり研究を実施した。1.プラジュニャーカラグプタ著『プラマーナ・ヴァールッティカ・アランカーラ』知覚章後半部に展開される外界実在論者クマーリラ批判の箇所を読了し、それに後続する箇所、及び関連する先行議論を読み進め、その校訂テキストおよび翻訳を作成した。本年度中にこれまで作成した校訂テキストと翻訳研究を出版するには至らなかったが、これらの成果は、一冊の本にまとめ、近く公刊する予定である。2.2009年9月1日から5日にかけて京都で開催されたThe 14^<th> World Sanskrit Confbrenceにおいて、仏教徒が主張する二諦説と論証活動のかかわりについて口頭発表を行った。クマーリラは、暫定的な真理と究極的な真理という二重の真理観を持つ仏教徒を激しく批判する。これに対してプラジュニャーカラグプタは、暫定的な真理を完全に否定した場合、あらゆる論証活動が崩壊してしまうということを詳細に検討し、仏教徒の立場から回答を与えようとする。発表では、このクマーリラに対するプラジュニャーカラグプタの再批判の内容をまとめ、両者の間に見られる真理観の相違を明らかにした。なお、この研究成果は次年度に刊行されるJournal of Indian Philosophyに掲予定である。3.2009年9月8,9両日、大谷大学で開催された日本印度学仏教学会第60回学術大会において、外界を認めることなく、いかにして推理が成立するかということをプラジュニャーカラグプタの議論をもとにまとめ、その研究成果を口頭発表した。特にプラジュニャーカラグプタの議論が、ダルマキールティが果物の味からその色を推理する場合を説明する際に持ち出した「同一基体に依存すること」という概念と密接に関連していることを指摘した。
