今年度、これまで日本、フィリピン双方において実施したフレキシブルな調査により、日比間め双方向的な移動による国境を越えたネットワークの詳細をまとめ上げ、その成果をいくつかの学術論文、研究報告において公表した。また、日常の研究活動から認識した資料や、調査の不足部分を補うため、さらに2008年12月の国籍法改定により新たに日本国籍を取得できる可能性が高いフィリピン在住日比二世の国籍申請の動向、新日系人関連の資料や、関係団体への聞き取り調査するため、フィリピンにおいて、フィールドワークが実施された。海外調査の継続的な実施により、現在進行形で起こっている、マニラ首都圏を中心に活動する非営利団体が日比二世や、日系人たちの移住、日本での就労先の斡旋などの活動を行なっている最新の動向を他の研究者よりも早く把握している。これら非営利団体の活動についてはいくつかの論文に、日比間の双方向的な移動の、近年のフィリピンから日本への移動を促進する動きの一つとして論じた。2年間の研究活動を振り返り、「研究の目的」において述べたように、90年入管法改定以降多様化しているフィリピン人による日比間の移動が解明されることに貢献したと自負している。80年代以降から続いているフィリピン人女性契約労働者の来日は、2005年、日本政府が「興行」在留資格発給要件厳格化により激減した。2009年には、日比両政府が締結した日比経済連携協定によりフィリピン人介護士看護師の候補者が来日する。この様な現状の変化の中で、より多くの研究者が日本人と家族関係をもつ在留資格の取得や、日本国籍をもつ人々によるフィリピンから日本への新たな移動現象を分析することを期待する。今後は研究成果を世界的に公表するため、国内、海外でのアウトリーチ活動をより積極的に行う予定である。
