Prediction of radiation effect for cancer of the mobile tongue using imaging appearances

(MR观察放疗前后的磁共振（MRI）表现。在没有复发的患者中，放疗后移动的舌的MR表现具有特征性。49例无复发者中有16例显示与颌下腺相当的强化区。其余33例与下颌下腺相比，强化较弱或无强化。（FDG-PET结果）在使用间质植入物进行确定性放疗后，观察到假阳性表现，可能是由于舌头运动不平衡。（颈部淋巴结影像学诊断的再评价）诊断标准应根据各机构的具体情况制定。

(MR findings) Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging appearances were investigated before and after radiotherapy. In patients without recurrence, MR appearance of the mobile tongue showed characteristic patterns after radiotherapy. An enhanced area equivalent to the submandibular gland was shown in 16 of 49 patients without recurrence. The remaining 33 patients showed relatively weak or no enhancement compared to those of submandibular gland.(FDG-PET findings) After definitive radiotherapy with interstitial implants, false-positive appearances were observed probably due to ill-balanced movement of the tongue.(Re-evaluation of diagnostic imaging for neck lymph node) Diagnostic criteria should be customized for each institution.
