洗浄機構に新たな知見を付け加えることを目的とし、赤外外部反射法を用いて、気液界面に吸着する陰イオン界面活性剤の構造を分子レベルで明らかにすることを試みた。その結果、炭化水素鎖長が8と10のアルキルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウムにおいては、濃度を上昇させると、炭化水素鎖のコンフォメーションはゴーシュ-トランスの変化を起こし、また配向が変化したが、炭素鎖長12においては、構造変化が起こらなかった。
