本班究の目的は,欧州自動車産業における自動車メーカー(アセンブラー)と自動車部品メーカー(サプライヤー)の取引関係に注目し,取引企業間の価格調整・数量調整の実態について明らかにすることであった。研究の背景として,取引当事者間における価格や数量の調整メカニズムが,サプライチェーンの変動対応カに影響を与えると考えると考えられるからであった。変動から生じる利益や損失の分配は,オペレ-ション活動を行っている現場レべルでは、取引企業間の価格調整と数量調整に具現化される。価格調整とは,取引開始時における部品の量産価格の決定方法や,量産開始後における毎年の価格改定の方法のことである。他方数量調整とは,アセンブラーがサプイヤーに発注する部品の数量の提示の仕方とその修正の方法である。本研究では,現地の欧州系・米国系アセンブラーと比較しながら,欧州に進出している日系アセンブラーにおける調整メカニズムの特徴を明らかにした。具体的な調査として,2007年7月に,欧州に進出している日系アセンブラー,日系サプライヤーに対して,インタビュー調査を行った。調査の結果として,日系アセンブラーは,暗黙のルールとしての取引規範重視の調整を行い,取引の柔軟性を高めていた。欧州アセンブラーにも同様の特徴がみられた。しかし,日系アセンブラーは,個別の部品ごとの厳密性も高めることによって,柔軟性の持つデメリットである曖昧性を克服しようとしていた。これに対して,米国アセンブラーは,取引契約重視で,事前に取り決める事柄が,多いが,事後的な調整が乏しく,柔軟性もあまり高くないことが明らかとなった。このように,取引調整メカニズムが基礎を置く取引規範の差異が明らかにされ,その違いが,サプライチェーンの変動対応力に影響を与えていることが本研究の結論である。
