数論的関数の和より生じる誤差項の平均値定理の考察を行う、ということがこの研究の主目的である。この立場の下、約数問題の類似物の問題である「k-free divisor problem」における平均値定理、ガウス数体のイデアルの個数関数を含む指数和における誤差項の平均値定理の解析、約数問題における誤差項を係数にもつディリクレ級数の解析的性質の考察を行い種々の平均値定理、および、その平均値定理と関連分野へのつながり・影響の考察を行った。
