From ancient times, there has been a close connection between journey and literature. In Western Europe, since the Age of Discovery, many explorers and missionaries have left records of great navigations led under the order of secular or religious authorities. In Modern Ages since the French Revolution,"travelling writers" take the place of the"writing travellers". Based on the discussion of various relations of journey and literature, and focusing on the specific conditions of each modern period, our research has been able to answer positively the question whether the journey remains today as it was one of the effective sources of literary inspiration.
