十八世紀後半の、経済学の成立過程に関わる重要草稿を解明し、経済学史研究の基本資料として編纂した。アダム・スミスより一足先に経済学を個別科学として体系化したジェームズ・ステュアートはその草稿の研究が未開拓であったが、本研究はステュアートが『経済学原理』を執筆する過程でノートを作成していたことを突き止め、その「経済学・註解ノート」ともいうべき国際的にも未解明の重要草稿を初めて明らかにするものとなった。

In the latter half of the 18th century, important drafts related to the establishment of economic science were explained and basic data for the study of economic history were compiled.
