大学が有する多面的な機能を活性化することによって、大学生が、地域環境の課題の発見、解決策の実践を通じて地域環境の改善に貢献できる、環境保全教育のアクションプログラムを開発し、実践した.横浜市を対象地域とし、1)土壌酸性化の予測マップの作成、2)水系の外来種のモニタリングと駆除、3)ビオトープの創生、4)大学保全林の利活用、5)温暖化による生物への影響、6)情報の可視化と共有化を可能にするインターネット上のシステムを利用した環境教育プログラムなどを開発し、実施した。
