20世紀の後半において大きく発展した霊長類社会学の知見と,生態人類学/文化人類学の研究成果を集結し,ヒト以前の社会から人類社会への進化の筋道について,構造論的な視点から研究を進め,社会進化のあり得べき姿の抽出と人間性の本質の把握を目指した。2年間で合計8回の共同研究を開催し,3つの課題,(1)資源および互酬システムの進化の究明,(2)コミュニケーションおよび相互行為システムの進化の究明,(3)共同性と規則・制度の進化の究明について学際的な議論を行い,停滞していた社会進化論の新展開を行った。

In the second half of the 20th century, there has been a great development in the knowledge of sociology, the accumulation of research achievements in ecological anthropology/cultural anthropology, the advancement of research on the evolution of human society from the perspective of tectonics, and the understanding of the nature of human nature from the perspective of social evolution. During the past two years, 8 joint studies have been conducted, 3 topics have been proposed,(1) the study of the evolution of resource systems,(2) the study of the evolution of interaction systems,(3) the study of the evolution of rules and institutions, and the new development of social evolution theory.
