This study aims to analyze the editing procedure of the Course of Study of social studies issued in 1951 and clarify the construction of the curriculum shown in the Course of Study by using the conference reports of education division of GHQ/CIE as a clue. This investigation revealed that the methodological principle was not the problem solving method based on the dynamic relativism advocated by Kaoru Ueda, who was one of editorial members but was rather based on the problem solving method which first set the understanding- goal of a unit and then pupils search for the answer.

本研究以1951年出版的《社会科课程》为研究对象，以美国总司令部/国际教育委员会教育处的会议报告为线索，分析《社会科课程》的编辑过程，阐明《社会科课程》的课程结构。调查发现，该教学法的原则不是编辑部成员之一的上田所倡导的动态相对主义的问题解决方法，而是先设定单元的理解目标，然后学生再寻找答案的问题解决方法。
