本研究の目的は,小学校の全教科から,表現の教育に関わる内容を網羅的に把握するための基礎資料を作成し,小学校教育における総合的・体験的な表現教育の内容的関連性を明らかにすることある。そのために,小学校学習指導要領から,表現の教育に関わる内容を抽出した。領域として示されている国語科,音楽科,図画工作科をはじめ,表現にかかわる体育科の身体表現(ダンス),生活科も含めた。次に,小学校各教科の教科書から,表現の教育に関わる内容を抽出した。この過程で,表現に関わる教育を,カタルシスとしての表現行為に着目したもの,伝達目的に着目したもの,前者二つが一体となったもの等に分類し,さらにそれらの形式・技術の教育,表現を媒介した教育等に分類して整理した。抽出した項目は,パーソナル・コンピュータのソフトウエアを使用してデータ・ベース化している。データ・ベース化に関しては,教科書の内容と表現の分類,表現行為によって検索可能な形式にしている。児童の活動や生活の中における表現体験の機会や要素を調査するために,横浜美術館子どものアトリエ,子どもの城(東京)を取材した。特に,横浜美術館子どものアトリエでは,造形表現体験のためのプログラム,実践記録のデータベース化についての知見を得た。表現教育の資料収集のために,財団法人美育文化協会・美育文化編集部(東京)において資料収集を行った。これらをもとに,小学校における総合的表現教育のためのプログラム作成に着手した。具体的には,表現の総合的性格に着目し,幼稚園表現領域との関連性を維持した形式での造形活動を基盤として,いくつかの教材開発を行った。現在,教材の妥当性を検証するために,幼児及び小学生を対象とした絵画教室において実験的に教材を適用している。これらの実践記録は,今後表現行為,表現手段,素材等によって検索可能なようにデータ・ベース化される予定である。
