アミロイド線維に対して高い親和性を持つアゾ色素であるコンゴーレッドの共鳴ラマン散乱を用いて、タンパク質が細胞に結合している状態でアミロイド線維に変化する過程を追跡することが可能な新規手法を開発した。本手法を用いることにより、1個の細胞の膜表面でのアミロイド形成を観察することが初めて可能となった。アルツハイマー病などの発症メカニズム解明のために、本手法は有用かつユニークな情報を与えると期待される。
