非糖尿病マウスと比べ糖尿病マウスでは急性期死亡率が高く、再灌流24時間後の梗塞サイズは有意に大きかった。組織学的検討では糖尿病マウスにおいて左室灌流域のアポトーシスがより高率に見られた。虚血後(再灌流前)にヒトインスリン様成長因子I(IGF-I)を投与したところ、糖尿病マウスの急性期死亡率は改善し、IGF-I非投与群に比較して梗塞サイズの縮小およびアポトーシスの抑制が確認された。
