アルツハイマー病(AD)患者脳において多量の蓄積が見られるアミロイドβタンパク質(Aβ)について、その構造と蓄積部位との関連性を明らかにするため、特に、そのN末端の構造の違いに着目して、Aβの前駆体タンパク質であるAPPを過剰発現しているトランスジェニック(Tg)マウス脳を解析した。また、N末端の短い分子種であるAβ5-40/42を脳で過剰に生成する、新たなタイプのTgマウスを作製し、解析した。
