本研究は脊髄運動ニューロンに対して,経頭蓋磁気刺激と末梢神経電気刺激の2つの刺激をHebb則に基づき一定の時間差,刺激強度で組み合わせた連合性ペア刺激(Pairedassociative stimulation)を行うことで,皮質脊髄路と脊髄運動ニューロン間のシナプス伝達効率を可塑的に変化させうることが明らかとなった.また,一側の運動野に対してPASを行うことで非刺激側である対側運動野の興奮性を変化させうることが明らかとなった.
