本研究では、O抗原コード領域とその周辺領域を株間で比較することにより、水平伝播領域の特定および入れ換わった領域の特徴を調べた。その結果、複数の大腸菌株でO抗原コード領域を含む大きな領域が水平伝播により入れ換わったことが明らかとなった。
