子宮内膜癌の発生に関与する遺伝子変異を同定する目的で、正常および腫瘍性内膜組織に発現する遺伝子をマイクロアレイ解析で探索したところ、内膜癌で過剰発現している分子として従来鉄イオンの運搬に関与するとされているlipocalin2を同定した。今回の検討によってlipocalin2の過剰発現が内膜癌の増殖能と転移能の亢進に関与していることが新たに明らかとなり、lipocalin2が内膜癌に対する分子標的となりうる可能性が示唆された。
