本研究では座位姿勢援助と脳活動との関係について検証を行った。研究1では、健康高齢者を対象とした。その結果、ベッド上座位では大脳の活性化は少ないことが示された。研究2では、介護老人福祉施設入居者を対象として、ベッド上での座位と椅子での座位の検証を行った。その結果、椅子での座位にのみ有意な脳活性が認められた。これらより、大脳を活性化させる看護援助は、ベッド上よりも椅子での座位が効果的であることが示唆された。
