项目摘要

本研究は難病研究用の資源バンクである難病バンクが難病研究の推進の為にどのような役割を果たすことが期待され、その期待に応える為にはどのような技術的あるいは社会的な課題があるのかを明らかにすることを目的として実施された。２年弱の期間を通じて、日本の難病研究の現状に対する理解を深める為の情報収集活動を実施するとともに、一つの先行事例とも言える生命科学推進の為の研究資源管理プロジェクト「ナショナル・バイオリソース・プロジェクト」に関する文献収集とインタビュー調査を行い、いくつかの所見について国内外の学会で発表を行った。海外における希少疾患研究では患者が中心となって研究活動を推進した事例が多く見られるのに対し、日本の難病研究は専門家主導で進められてきた経緯がある。しかし、近年になってレジストリの構築など、患者あるいはそれを支援する団体が積極的に関与するようになってきた。その影響はまだ研究体制を左右するまでに至ってはいないようだが、海外との連携なども活発になっていることから、今後難病研究を取り巻く社会環境が変化していくことが予想され、難病バンクもそれに対応するものではなくてはならない。また、ナショナル・バイオリソース・プロジェクトは開始後１０年を越える国家プロジェクトで、その発足の経緯や活動の内容、そして各リソースを担当する研究者が抱える課題などについて情報収集を行った。異なるリソース間ではその活動の在り方に違いがあるものの、品質保証の為の技術の向上や安定的な供給の為のシステム作りなどについては情報交換などの活動も行われていることが分かった。倫理面等では大きな違いがあるものの、戦略的な研究リソースの整備という点では、難病バンクを検討する際にも有効であると考えられる。今後は調査で得られた情報をもとに、生体資源の管理に焦点をおいた研究論文としてまとめていくことを予定している。
