本研究は、日本におけるコリアンナイトクラブホステスに関する文化人類学的研究として、前年度に展開した研究の継続発展である。前年度に引き続き、参与観察・面接調査・文献研究を組み合わせて、国籍やジェンダー、セクシュアリティーが労働に及ぼす影響を考察した。今年度は、前年度の予備調査を本調査に結びつけ、特にデータが不足していたクラブ経営者である「ママ」に焦点を当て、福岡、東京で聞き取り調査および参与観察を行うことができた。また研究会や講演会にも積極的に参加し日本の研究者・NPOとの学術交流もはかりながら補完的調査を行った。研究成果の一部は国内外の学会や論文として発表した。受け入れ研究者である山下は、「人の移動と人間の安全保障ビジネス」研究会をたち上げ、昨年同様、彼女の研究を広くグローバル化にともなうトランスナショナリティ(越境)に関する文化人類学的研究の中で位置づけ、日本における移民受け入れ政策や多文化共生社会の構築に向けて協働した。(1)東京ではコリアンコミュニティー内のNPOを中心にコリアンホステスの実情を把握しつつ、文献調査、資料収集、研究会への参加を行った。(2)共著書の出版を目標にして香港大で開催される日本のセクシュアリティの現況を分析するワークショップに参加した。(3)台北で開催されるアメリカ人類学会東アジア人類学部会研究大会に山下とともに出席し、ディスカッサントとしてコメントすると同時に、研究発表を行った。(4)福岡では2010年3月に、多国籍クラブのママやホステス、その家族の参与観察を行った。(5)大阪では2009年10月、2010年3月にミナミおよび鶴橋周辺でフィールドワークを行った。本研究が扱うテーマは世界ではじめてのもので、移民研究、労働研究、ジェンダー研究の分野で大きな貢献となるはずである。
