项目摘要

フィジーにおいて、モノが「制度」をつうじて近代的な「芸術品」、伝統的「交換財」、あるいは「土産物商品」といったさまざまな価値を付与されていくプロセス、そしてそれらのモノがローカルな交換体系へと接合されなおす動態を明らかにすることをめざし、本年度はとりわけ市場を中心とした制度に関する調査・分析をおこなった。1.文献研究象徴論や記号論に関する文献を収集・分析し、芸術制度論を解体するためには、芸術の生産・流通プロセスにおける社会的実践行為を可視化する必要があることを明らかにした。2.フィールドワークによる研究フィジー・ヴイチレヴ島において、主に土産物市場と芸術市場を対象にし、とりわけ価格決定プロセスに関してミクロ的なフィールドワークをおこなった。そこで明らかになったのは、土産物市場において商品の価格は固定的で比較的予測が易しいのに対し、芸術市場においては偶然的要素が常に価格を揺さぶり、予測不可能性に満ちているという点であった。またそれぞれの市場に対して、制作/製作・流通(・販売)・消費過程にかかわる人材、場所、道具を洗い出し、それらの共通点あるいは相違点を明らかにした。そして、それらに社会的連続性・非連続性をもたらす文化装置の実態を考察した。また、貴会「優秀若手研究者海外派遣事業」の支援により滞在したハワイ・オアフ島では、オセアニア芸術をつうじた地域的集合性の生成プロセスについて知見をえることができた。3.総論フィジーにおいて「芸術」や「交換体系」や「土産物商品」とのあいだを揺れ動くモノの論理の根幹には「集合性」を確立しようとする制度や言説があり、それらはすなわち(1)真正性の確保、(2)市場戦略、(3)地城主義の確立であることが明らかになった。
