项目摘要

本研究は、身体性を軸として、映像表現の新しい可能性を模索しようとするものである。映像によってあるイメージが構成され、またそれを見るものにおいてあるイメージが立ち上がる。この映像の構成力と喚起力をどこまで引き上げることができるだろうか。通例的には、喚起力のベースになっているものが、映像の「記号性(意味)」や「視覚的リアリズム」だと考えられている。それ以外の喚起の原動力になるものをどれだけ見つけられるか、これは映像によって表現を行う人間にとって、常に課題となる。見るという行為は眼球のなかの出来事ではない。映画やゲームといった既存の形態においても、身体性を媒介として、喚起されるある種のイメージが確かに存在する。人間の内部に立ち現れる身体イメージを操作する表現は、映像とそれによって表象される観念や概念、出来事の間の記号的、インデキシカルな関係性とは全く異なる基本原理に依拠しているはずである。本年度は、タッチパネルを搭載した小型端末上で動作するインタラクティブなアニメーションツールの制作を行い、それを利用し、いくつかのワークショップや展示を行った。このツールは、身体性に訴えかけるような指先で操作することのできるアニメーションを作製することを支援する環境である。これによって、身体性と映像の関係性についてユーザベースでの探索を行うためのプラットホームのプロトタイプが完成した。ツールの有効性としては、オノマトペによって喚起される触覚的イメージを、このツールによって映像として外在化する、ということをテーマとしたワークショップを行うことで行った。その結果、本ツールが映像制作の大きなモチベーションになること、また、イメージ生成に関して重要な要因となる心的イメージの外在化のプロセスについての分析をおこなうことができた。
