Lipids which mediate cell signals are called lipid mediators. Many lipid mediators exert their effects through G-protein coupled receptors(GPCR). We have investigated the GPCR-related lipid mediators which prevent bone destruction. We have reported that gene ablation of the receptor of leukotrienes(BLT1) inhibits the bone resorption. We have also clarified the bone-resorbing mechanisms in the other GPCRs.
