This research approached the problem of 'the meaning of life' through the phenomenological analysis of the concept ‘meaning' . We called this meaning, which should be distinguished from the linguistic one, 'relevance-meaning' and showed that its essence consists of influencing the future. We also examined the conditions that enable a life to be meaningful beyond the limit of death and traditional views of history that satisfy the conditions. In the end section of this research we confirmed that we could conquer the dilemma as to whether accept one of traditional views of history or a kind of nihilism by abandoning the linear image of time upon which the above-mentioned 'relevance-meaning' is based.

本研究通过对“意义”概念的现象学分析来探讨“生命的意义”问题。我们将这种意义与语言学意义区别开来，称之为“关联意义”，并指出其本质在于影响未来。我们还研究了使生命超越死亡的限制而有意义的条件和满足这些条件的传统历史观。在本研究的最后部分，我们证实了我们可以通过放弃作为上述“相关性意义”基础的时间的线性形象来克服是接受一种传统历史观还是一种虚无主义的困境。
