As a scientific research, Professor Izumi Nakai in Tokyo University of Science and Professor Susumu Shimoyama in Kibi International University were in charge of the investigation, and holders of an important intangible cultural property of Mr. Kunihiko Moriguchi, Mr. Shigeto Suzuta, and Mr. Kazumi Murose put the investigation into practice for elucidating the using technique of paper patterns from a viewpoint of DENTO KOGEI( Japanese Traditional Art Crafts) manufacturing technique. As for the result of scientific investigation, the material used for the paintings were contradicted the result of the first investigation, the gold background was gold leaves not a gold paint. As for the use of organic dyes, the existence of indigo plant was not recognized by the part of the wave, rather the possibility of the use of bluish black ink was pointed out. By the investigation result of drawing techniques, it is highly possible that the border of gold background and the outline of the running water must be used paper patterns, however, running water themselves unable to express by the paper patterns. Therefore, we consider that they must be depicted with a technique of protect-to-dye. The research this time shown us the extreme importance for a study of cultural assets which we need an eye with technology and experience accumulated in the long history and tradition along with the investigation by natural science.
