The environmental performance of most school buildings is poor in Japan and the new building design standard is required. In this study, at first, the actual condition of building design codes of local government was investigated and clarified. On the other-hand, the effects of some passive design methods, as night-purge, were tested and examined using actual school buildings. Also the Eco-Schools in Germany and England were investigated. Based on the results of these studies, a new "performance standard" for school building was proposed.

日本大部分学校建筑的环境性能较差，需要新的建筑设计标准。在本研究中，首先对地方政府建筑设计规范的实际情况进行了调查和澄清。另一方面，利用实际校舍对一些被动式设计方法，如夜间清扫的效果进行了测试和检验。此外，还对德国和英国的生态学校进行了调查。基于这些研究的结果，提出了一个新的校舍建设“绩效标准”。
