Molecular mechanisms of neuropathy caused by vitamin B12-deficiency in elderly people

为阐明老年人维生素B12缺乏性神经病的分子机制，制备了维生素B12缺乏性线虫(秀丽线虫)作为模型动物。缺乏维生素B12的线虫表现出明显的脂、氨基酸代谢紊乱和氧化应激的积累，导致神经传递效率低下，神经元受体功能障碍，神经元死亡。

To elucidate the molecular mechanisms of neuropathy caused by vitamin B12-deficiency in elderly people, the vitamin-deficient nematode (Caenorhabditis elegans) was prepared and used as a model animal. The vitamin B12-deficient nematode showed significant metabolic disorders of lipids and amino acids, and accumulation of oxidative stress ; such disorders result in inefficiency of neurotransmission, functional disturbance of neuron receptors, and death of neuron.
