项目摘要

近年、外国語教育において、実用的なコミュニケーション能力の育成の必要性が叫ばれる中で、電子メールや電子掲示板といったコンピューターを介したコミュニケーション(Computer-Mediated Communication:以下、CMCと略す)ツールが実用的コミュニケーション能力の育成に有効とされるタスクベース協調学習において使用されることが徐々に増えてきた。本研究は最近、国際的に研究知見が増えてきている社会的存在感と認知的存在感概念に焦点化した外国語コミュニケーション学習システムの開発と評価を行った。初めに整理されていなかった社会的存在感に関する理論整理を行った。また対面とCMCとの比較を行い、理論整理した結果と合わせて、システムの設計を再度行った。設計に基づき、認知的存在感を引き出すことを目的とした思考整理ツール、発言整理ツールや教材連動機能、社会的存在感を引き出すことを目的とした雑談機能、絵文字表示機能を実装したテキストチャットを開発した。システムを社会的存在感、ならびに認知的存在感の観点で評価を行ったところ、先行研究と異なり、社会的存在感と認知的存在感は負の相関があることが確認されたが、認知的存在感は強く学習パフォーマンスに関わっていることが示され、システムの有効な点とそうではない点が示された。今後の本研究を継続的に進めていく予定である。
