项目摘要
Champfleury collected popular faiences, made in the period of the French Revolution, for about 20 years from about 1850. His collection, 547 items in total, inspired people to collect and research popular faiences. Champfleury classified his faiences according to symbols of the Revolution, and his own research into faiences in turn contributed to wider historical research on the French Revolution. While he was employed in the manufactory of Sevres and in the Ceramic Museum of Sevres, Champfleury had a large circle of friends and acquaintances and succeeded in collecting ceramic works and documents about them from both inside and outside the country. This study has analyzed and made clear the great service that Champfleury rendered in the development of ceramic research in France.
