项目摘要

概略:(i)平成23年4月～7月には得られたデータから、研究テーマの1つである「第二義的な新規情報」が発話文の終結部に一般化できる型として現れているかについて、さらに自由会話部分について観察、分析を行った。音韻的特性を視覚化する作業を続けていったが、多大な時間を要し、予定より遅れた。(ii)8月～9月の夏期には海外渡航により、最新の文献、情報を収集した。Horn教授、Keith Johnson教授、Robin Lakoff教授などから本研究で抱えていた技術的な疑問などにつき助言・示唆を得た。特に、直面していた音響分析でピッチ価の表示ソフトの使い難さの問題や、方言的な「話題化」移動の文構造の問題については、現段階での研究方法に一部修正を加える方策が得られた。(iii)10月～平成24年3月には、自由会話の録音ファイルは日本語については、開始部、終結部についての観察と分析が進んでいったが、一方で、英語についてはそれぞれの自由会話の録音が10分以上続くものが多く、書き起こしやその英語文のチェックなどを行なう人手を確保するのは困難であった。幸いに、米国渡航時に情報を交わした博士課程学生からの他院生の紹介を請け、協力をお願いした。以降、インターネット経由で一部の書き起こし作業や、その英文チェックまでを、遅ればせながら無事に終えることができた。要点・まとめ:(i)録音収集した英語のパート1である短文データから、先行研究で主張された開始部の話題化の型は非常に限られたものであり、一部に英語話者の間で大きな許容判断の個人差があった。故にそうした主張は一般化できるものではないとの結論を得た。(ii)先行研究におけるTAILの「第二義的」特性については、「新情報」を含む二次的意味を供給する例が、韻律上のピッチ山の観点からも日本語データで見られた。しかもピッチの高いその句部分の高さが先行句部分より抑えられる傾向が観察された。発話既出部での前提的な意味を請けて二次的な情報を示す位置である特性の反映であるなら、高さがそこで抑えられるのは予測された分布のようである。英語の終結部では、反対に先行部分よりピッチが高いものの例が幾つも見られた。包括的結論の可否は別としても、韻律面からの、文内での位置の分析は、有標性を探るのに有効であり、かつ一般化を探るにあたって、2言語の発話情報特性におけるかなり決定的な「現れ方」の違いを示唆するもののようである。
