项目摘要

社会生態学要因がどのように相互独立もしくは相互協調を促すのかという研究目的のもと、1)ヨーロッパ内の分散に注目し、宗教や生業、さらには気候に基づき、フランスはイギリスやドイツと比較し、相対的に相互協調的であること、2)北米における分散に注目し、開拓の歴史から鑑みて、西部は東部と比較し相対的により相互独立的であることを検討した。さらに日本における分散に注目し、開拓の歴史をもつ北海道で生まれ育った人々と、本州で生まれ育ったが大学入学のために北海道に引っ越してきた人々とを比較し、果たして住居の移動が人々の相互独立性を促すのかどうか検討した。最初の点に関しては、いくつかの指標を用いてその3つの文化を比較したところ、その予測と一致した傾向が見出された。現在この結果をもとに論文を執筆中である。2番目の点に関して、開拓の歴史が新しい西部とその歴史が古い東部とでは、いずれの地域における傾向は他文化(例えば日本)と比較した場合に相互独立的であったものの、こと顕在的な価値観(例えば個人主義や反秩序主義など)に関しては、西部における人々は東部における人々よりも相互独立的だった。この結果は、2009年6月に京都大学で行われた文化心理学ワークショップで報告され、現在、Journal of Personality and Social Psychology誌に投稿中である。最後に3番目の点に関して、道内出身・道内在住者と道外出身・道内在住者を対象にした価値観の調査を行った。現在、本州出身の本州在住者を対象に同様の調査を実施中である。
