本年度は、かつて法隆寺に伝来した繍仏裂に関する調査・研究、ならびに論文の執筆を行った。繍仏裂は法隆寺献納宝物中に伝来する金銅灌頂幡の幡足(作品本体の下方に垂れ下がる吹き流しの裂)に相当すると考えられている。金銅灌頂幡は一旒の大幡と四旒の小幡から構成された作品で、これに合わせるかたちで、繍仏裂も約12cm幅と約8cm幅に大きく分けられる。しかし現状において、繍仏裂は金銅灌頂幡と分離しており、さらにバラバラの断片となった状態で全国の寺院・博物館・個人等に散在している。天寿国繍帳と双壁をなす、七世紀の代表的刺繍工芸作品でありながらも、現存の数量や内容が把握されておらず、また断片本来の接続関係も不明であった。このため、本研究においては、まず現存作品の悉皆調査を行った。具体的な調査方法としては、法量計測、デジタルカメラによる細部撮影のほか、マイクロスコープを用いた下地裂織密度の計測を行った。また様式的な検討としては、各断片に見られる図像の分類を行い、当初七条が存在したと見られる広幅の幡足において、条毎に下絵の制作者が異なっていたことが明らかとなった。以上の研究により、多数にのぼる繍仏裂の断片を本来の幡足単位にしたがって分類することが可能となった。また、金銅灌頂幡との比較により、繍仏裂に見られる図像は幡の本体部分よりも新しい段階に属し、同じく献納宝物中に伝来する金銅小幡、また法隆寺金堂の天蓋装飾、および壁画とそれぞれ近似することが明らかとなった。これにより、金銅灌頂幡と金銅小幡が本来一具をなしていた可能性が高まるとともに、その完成時期についても法隆寺金堂の荘厳を介して、七世紀の末頃が想定された。天蓋装飾や壁画に見られる異なった様式が繍仏裂の中で並立していることは、今後の法隆寺再建期の研究にあたっても、重要な視点をもたらすものと考えられる。なお、本研究に基づき「法隆寺伝来繍仏裂の分類と基礎的考察」と題する論文を完成させており、来年度に公刊する予定である。

This year, we will conduct research, research, and writing of papers on the issue of Falun Gong. The paper will be completed in the coming year and published in the public journal.
