项目摘要

本年度は論文3件、作品解説5件(小学館『日本美術全集2法隆寺と奈良の寺院』)、国内発表1件、国外発表1件ほか、多数の作品調査を行った。まず論文として「法隆寺伝来繍仏裂の分類と基礎的考察」を『MUSEUM』637号に発表した。これはもと法隆寺に伝来し、現在東京国立博物館をはじめ全国各所に分蔵される繍仏裂について網羅的な調査を行ったうえで、図像と技法によって分類し、美術史上の位置づけについて基礎的な考察を行ったものである。特に図像様式については、法隆寺金堂壁画と類似したグループが存在することを提示した。これにより作品の製作年代は法隆寺金堂の完成時期(7世紀末)に当たることが想定され、その製作は金堂の造営に付随して行われたものと考察した。次に「古代日本における幡・天蓋の造形と新羅文化」は、東国大学校新羅文化研究所刊行の『慶州瓢巌石刻画学術会議報告書』に発表した。これは近年慶州市瓢巌から発見された石刻画(幡・仏殿・塔・僧侶等を表す)について考察したもので、特に幡を中心として、法隆寺伝来の上代美術と比較検討した。『佛教藝術』324に発表した「法隆寺金堂における荘厳の意義」では、法隆寺金堂の内部を構成する仏像・台座・天蓋・壁画を対象にして、総合的な視点から、金堂内部に構築された空間の意義について論じたものである。各作品に見られる共通項について図像と仏典の解釈から検討し、結果として本尊たる釈迦如来の起した神変(奇跡)と、それを見ることによって喚起される菩提心が、この空間表現のテーマであると論じた。学会発表は、前記した東国大学校新羅文化研究所での口頭発表のほか、木更津市政70周年記念事業の一環として「仏教美術から見た金鈴塚古墳出土金具」と題する口頭発表を行った。本発表では金鈴塚古墳出土の金属製品について仏教美術や法隆寺献納宝物の工芸作品を通じた比較検討を行い、特に6世紀末から7世紀初頭における百済美術との関係が強く認められることを論じた。
