Epidemiological study on vulnerability toward infectious diseases among migrant population in Southeast Asia-Sex workers and HIV/AIDS

对云南省边境地区流动人口的艾滋病/性病流行情况及相关危险因素进行了流行病学调查。我们采用了受访者驱动的抽样方法，并将所谓的“难以接触的人群”——女性性工作者纳入了我们的调查。我们的调查结果显示，在这一人群中，性传播疾病的患病率很高，性传播疾病相关知识匮乏。这一研究表明，不仅对东南亚国家，而且对包括日本在内的在这一热点地区有经济活动的国家来说，建立针对流动人口的传染病预防体系的国际合作是非常重要的。

Epidemiological study was conducted to estimate the HIV/STDs prevalence and related risk factors among migrant population in border area of Yunnan, China. Respondent Driven Sampling method was used and so-called 'hard-to-reach-population'-female sex workers were included to our survey, our findings revealed the high prevalence of STDs and poor STI-related knowledge among this population. This research suggests the importance of international cooperation on infectious diseases preventive system aimed migrant population, not only for those Southeast countries but also for those have economic active in this hot zone, including Japan.
