2012年度は主に補充調査に充て、ルスタン氏は日本における「混血児」人口の人種化という問題に取り組むため、「Japanese-Filipino Children(JFC)(およびJapanese-Filipino Young(JFY)」を対象としてフィールドワークを行った。具体的には以下の人々に対し聞き取り調査を実施した。1.東京:「JFC-network」と「日本弁護士連合会」に関係あるJFC(JFC13人):JFCにとって、またJFCの家族、活動者、政府にとって、日本の国籍とシチズンシップはそれぞれどのような意味をもつのかについて、特に国籍取得のための法的プロセスに注目して考察を行った。2.埼玉:「Hustlinrecords」と「Star Records」というJapanese Filipino Youthラップレーベル(ラップバンド名「ESPADA」と「Organic Muzik」)関係者(6人):参与観察と定性調査の手法を用い、ビジュアル文化を見せること、そしてなぜこの文化を選択したのかということについて考察した。3.名古屋:「ELCC学校」、「Filipino Migrant Center」、「Philippines Society Japan」(16人):これらの施設に通うJFCとJFYに対して、参与観察、定量調査と定性調査を行った。特に、これらのインタビューから、日本社会における人集化と差別、同化、JFY文化とビジビリティの問題について考察を行った。また、上記の調査で収集したデータの分析も並行して行い、その成果の一部として、2013年2月3日に一橋大学大学院国際社会学プログラム主催のワークショップにて報告を行った(報告題目:「アイデンティティ・トラブル-〈人種/エスニシティの混淆〉と日本社会」)。また現在、これまで収集したデータを用いて、近刊のフランス語学術雑誌「Hommes et migrations」および同じく近刊の学術図書「Hybrid Japan」に掲載予定の論文を執筆中である。
