本研究は、植民地期朝鮮における異民族間結婚と家庭空間に注目して、日本のレイシズムの問題を文化史的な観点から解明しようとするものである。近年、植民地主義やレイシズム(人種主義)の問題を考えるうえで注目されているのが、植民地的親密性(colonial intimacy)という概念である。植民地においては、異民族間結婚であれ「現地人」の住み込みの使用人であれ、家庭のような親密な空間のなかで定住植民者と被植民者が共存する場が数々存在した。そうした場に関して様々な言説や制度が生み出されたが、それは少数の民族(人種)が多数の民族(人種)を支配する植民地社会の維持に欠かせないレイシズムの形成と密接不可分である、という見方である。2012年度は、博士論文の内容をさらに展開し、英語の単行本としてまとめあげる研究を中心に調査を進めた。Kimは文化史的な研究を、板垣の社会史・制度史的な研究によって補足しながら進めた。また、板垣が同僚研究者らと運営している「同志社植民地主義研究会」(DOSC http://dosc.sakura.ne.jp/)とも連携しながら、研究を展開した。2012年度は、特に次のような研究を実施した。(1)新たな論文"Racialization and Colonial Space:Intermaniage in Yi Hyo-sok's Works"をThe Journal of Korean Studiesに投稿し、掲載が決定された。(2)京都(京大、同志社図書館)、東京(国立国会図書館、早稲田大学図書館)で調査した。日本における新聞、雑誌などにあらわれた日本人/朝鮮人のあいだの婚姻に関わる言説を、1930-40年代を中心に集中的に収集、分析した。また、朝鮮人作家に関連する資料を収集した。(3)1930年代以降から戦後の時期にかけて、日本人/朝鮮人の「混血」家族に関する言説と映画を集中的に収集、分析した。ソウルの国立中央図書館と韓国映像資料院が保存する資料を収集した。

(3) From the 1930s onwards, the post-war period and the collection and analysis of Japanese/Korean “mixed-race” family stories and films were concentrated. The archives are preserved and collected by the National Library of Korea and the Korea Image Archives.
