项目摘要

最終年度には以下の二つに取り組んだ。一つ目に、前年度に続いて、ヨルダン・イラク関係の性質と、それがヨルダンの社会経済の発展に与える影響について検討した。とりわけ、1970年代から現在までの貿易を中心とする経済的側面を取り上げ、ヨルダンからの財の輸出やイラクからの石油輸入が湾岸戦争やイラク戦争といったイラクをめぐる国際関係の変化にどのような影響を与えているのか、そしてそれがヨルダンの産業の発展や社会経済の安定にどのように作用しているのかについて検討した。これらの研究内容を補足し新たな資料を得るために、2013年2月にはヨルダンのアンマーンで統計局資料室やヨルダン大学図書館等で資料調査を実施した。二つ目に、3年間の研究の集大成としてこれまでの研究業績を中心にまとめた博士論文を提出した。博士論文では、中東地域研究の対象としてヨルダンを取り上げ、経済開発と結びついた対外関係を中心にその存立構造について論じた。とりわけ、先行研究が依拠してきた政治経済の脆弱性という観点を批判的に捉えなおし、超国家的な国家の動態や対外関係について新たな意義を示すとともに、それらに基づいた国内の経済開発の展開を実証的に検証することで、ヨルダンの構造的な特質について包括的な議論を行った。その中で、本研究課題の目的である「紛争によってその領域的・人口的動態を規定されながらも同時に紛争の被害を緩和するという特殊な存立構造をもつヨルダンが、中東諸国および国際社会においてどのような役割を果たしているのか」という点については、ヨルダン国家の存立がイラク問題やパレスチナ問題をはじめとする域内の紛争の継続と相互に補完しあうものであり、それはまた紛争との相関性を持つ国際関係によって成り立つ中東地域システムの継続に貢献してきたこと、そしてそのために領域や国民構成をも含みこむ国家の枠組の可変性が重要な役割を果たしてきたことを結論において指摘した。
